Now Apple’s Upset the Polar Bears: Oldest App company quits iPhone development; lets rip
_____________________________________________________________
Apple is not in anyone’s good books this week. The last couple of days have seen everybody getting upset over the company’s apparent systematic banning of all Google Voice apps.
And now Polar Bear Farm, a setup who claim to be the world’s “very first iPhone development company”, has announced that it won’t invest another cent in creating iPhone apps, although they will continue to support their existing ones
Polar Bear have been responsible for a number of useful utilities, but most recently Tweet Push, a Twitter push notification client that charges a monthly subscription using Apple’s new in-app purchase system.
Judging from their lengthy tirade in their official blog, Polar Bear Farm have given this a lot of thought. The post reveals their ongoing frustration with the downward trend of pricing in the App Store. In particular, they mention how it has affected the likes of games giant like EA, who have set up a special spinoff company designed to
churn out limited scale $0.99 games every few weeks. All in an attempt for EA to find some viable way to operate in a market they clearly feel a need to have a presence in.”
The announcement makes for fascinating reading, and you can see it in full here. However, for the lazy among us they have also helpfully provided a Twitterized summary:
Something tells us they’re not happy with Apple.
