Apple “blames AT&T” for Google Voice Apps ban. Enterprising users get compensated without costing developers.

Yesterday we reported how Google Voice applications are being systematically removed from the App Store. One of them was Sean Kovac’s GV Mobile, which he has already made available as a free Cydia app, for those adventurous enough to jail-break their iPhones.
That guy certainly doesn’t sit around feeling sorry for himself.
Anyway, speculation is rife over who’s really responsible for the mass removal of Google Voice Apps from iTunes. Sean has published some interesting evidence.
As you can see above, an iTunes Store support operator appears to have admitted that the app was “at the request of AT&T” removed from the store. That’s as close to the horse’s mouth as we can expect to get right now.
Meanwhile, Sean’s users are being rather clever and considerate in how they go about getting compenated for their removed App Store purchases. Rather than getting a cash refund for the App, paid for out of the innocent develper’s income, here’s what one of his would-be customers suggested:
