BREAKING NEWS: Google CEO quits Apple board. Jack Nicholson being lined up for sequel.
_____________________________________________________________
Google chief Eric Schmidt (the guy famously portrayed by Jack Nicholson) has resigned his seat on the board of Apple, citing conflict of interest.
The fact that this happened a couple of days after all this stuff, is of course purely coincidental.
Said Apple’s Steve Jobs:
“Eric has been an excellent Board member for Apple, investing his valuable time, talent, passion and wisdom to help make Apple successful,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Unfortunately, as Google enters more of Apple’s core businesses, with Android and now Chrome OS, Eric’s effectiveness as an Apple Board member will be significantly diminished, since he will have to excuse himself from even larger portions of our meetings due to potential conflicts of interest. Therefore, we have mutually decided that now is the right time for Eric to resign his position on Apple’s Board.”
By the way you have to chuckle, don’t you, every time Jobs uses the phrase “Apple’s core”.
No?
Suit yourself.
